MEET BEN
“There’s a moment that I always love to see with clients. A moment of realization that arrives after someone tries a way of communicating that’s completely new to them. Usually it’s a subtle adjustment or a new perspective that makes this moment arrive, and when it does, it’s extraordinarily empowering. A client can go from frustrated and hopeless to exploring new, freeing ways of communicating starting with the idea that everyone – no matter how experienced – can improve.”
WORKING WITH BEN
BIOGRAPHY
Ben Graney is a Senior Executive Coach with GK Training who is committed to helping people of all experience levels and backgrounds become their most authentic communicators.
Ben has personally coached a diverse range of clients, from high school kids to startup entrepreneurs to associate and partner-level lawyers to pharmaceutical professionals. Remote or in-person, large group or individual, Ben fosters a secure, non-judgemental environment where it’s easy to try things out and safe to fail.
His areas of focus at GK Training have included helping to create and teach an innovative, new approach to high school public speaking classes, coaching professionals across industries on storytelling, content creation, pitching skills, and coaching Columbia Business School students on their physical and vocal presence. Ben leverages his extensive artistic background to help non-performers excel in vital communication opportunities and high-stakes events.
During his own training at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts for his M.F.A., he studied and learned vocal production, speech techniques, physical presence, and script and story analysis. His artistic training has also enhanced his natural empathy and warmth, which allows his clients to get out of their comfort zones safely, break old habits that aren’t helpful anymore, and create new muscle memory to bring their communication skills to the next level. Before NYU, Ben attended California State University, Long Beach and earned a B.A. in Theater Arts – Performance.
As a performer, Ben has been seen on Broadway (in the Tony-award winning play War Horse), Off-Broadway, in regional theaters across the United States (San Diego, Minneapolis, St. Louis, Louisville, Philadelphia, Princeton, Chautauqua), on TV (CBS, NBC, Showtime, Amazon Prime, Paramount+, Peacock), and in films (Netflix).
Ben’s other accomplishments include ten years of teaching artists of all kinds financial literacy across the country through the non-profit he co-founded, a ten-year stint on the board of the NYU Graduate Acting Alumni Association, and being a proud (and joyfully tired) dad to twin boys and a dog (a half-lab, half-dachshund!).
