Podcasts. Everyone seems to have one these days. Whatever your passion, there’s a podcast out there for you. In 2021 there were over 850,000 podcasts in existence. This is no surprise, as podcasts are a great tool for continuing education, motivation, or just plain fun. The best part about podcasts, and perhaps part of why they are so popular, is that they save you time: you can listen on your commute, while you’re at the gym, cooking, cleaning, the sky’s the limit. Podcasts also allow you to dive into subjects for varying lengths of time. If you only have 15 minutes, there is something for you. If you want an hour long investigative story, there’s a podcast out there that fits. Podcasts can also be a great community building tool. It is easy to engage with other listeners on social media, and connecting with people who are intrigued by the same topics can be a useful tool when building a business or looking to expand your network in an organic way. We’ve rounded up some of our favorite podcasts dedicated to business and business development. Hope you enjoy. And who knows, you may see a GK Training Podcast in 2022!
1. Yang Speaks
Shortly after dropping out of the presidential race in 2020, Andrew Yang launched his podcast featuring in-depth discussions with leaders on a range of topics: technology, public policy, entertainment, and sports. GK founder Michael Chad Hoeppner, who helped Yang with his communication on the campaign trail, is featured on an episode called “Communicate Like a Pro” (check it out on our YouTube channel here). Yang is always thinking outside the box and this is a great way to hear from other thought leaders and continue expanding your knowledge base.
2. The Tropical MBA
Live every Thursday at 8am EST, this podcast interviews entrepreneurs all over the world. Founders Dan Andrews and Ian Schoen investigate “micro-multinational” businesses and building wealth through online business. This podcast has been hugely successful over the past decade with a loyal subscriber base and tight-knit community of listeners.
3. The Art of Charm
Yes, this podcast has a more personal and casual tone. The content is easy to digest and it covers everything from human behavior to psychology and how we can be our best selves in our personal and professional life. Johnny and AJ are Los Angeles–based coaches who dissect human behavior and the science behind it.
4. The Growth Show
We here at GK Training believe in a growth mindset. Did you know that people who adopt a growth mindset improve faster and go farther than those with a fixed mindset? This podcast shares inspiring stories about people who are growing a business, idea, or movement. It’s inspiring and funny and it’s only 30 minutes long, which makes it perfect if you only have a short amount of time.
5. NY Launch Podcast
Hal Coopersmith, a practicing attorney in NYC, created this podcast to address business in the city. That being said, even if you don’t live in New York, you can learn a lot from his monthly podcast which features a range of entrepreneurs who talk about their experience building businesses and discuss key issues facing entrepreneurs. Hal invited Michael Hoeppner on to discuss how GK Training has pivoted during the pandemic and talk about strategy for better remote communication practices; you can listen to that episode here.
